What Everyone at the Table Agrees To

The rules at Saltbush Court are short and the same for everyone who sits down in Kalgoorlie: ID at the door, chips that never turn into cash, and a house dealer whose word settles any dispute.

A Few Words Before You Sit Down

The rules at Saltbush Court are short and the same for everyone who sits down in Kalgoorlie: ID at the door, chips that never turn into cash, and a house dealer whose word settles any dispute.

None of this is complicated — most of it comes down to treating the felt, and the other players at it, with a bit of care.

The Short List

  1. Photo ID is checked at the door every time, no exceptions — regulars included.
  2. Chips are handed to you by the house and only ever mark points; they're never bought, sold or cashed in.
  3. The house dealer runs every hand; you never deal, shuffle or bank the game yourself.
  4. Any dispute at the table is settled by the dealer, and that call is final.
  5. Keep your phone off the felt during a hand — the counter is fine for calls.
  6. Nobody under eighteen is admitted, and you may be asked for ID more than once if there's any doubt.
